Matariki Research

Task one: Matariki Piktochart

Task two: The style of music is Maori and it is about the word Aotearoa the people who  perform this is people all over New Zealand coming to one place. The singers of this song is Stan Walker, Ria Hall, Troy Kingi and Maisey Rika.

The thing I like about the music video Aotearoa is that it is based on it's name and people all over the world coming together to put the name together.

The thing I like about the video is that it incorporates nature into the video.

This song is about the Maori language week and it was inspired by the Maori song "POI E" released in 1984 by the Patea Maori club. some of the lyrics in English is No matter if your near or far we come from the land of god no matter where you belong we'll fight for your freedom.

I don't know of any other Maori Musicals.

Task 3:
This type of story is a nonfiction.
This story was written for people any age.
The main idea was to inform people about the seven stars of matariki.
The thing I have liked about this story is when the the eldest brother catches the women and sends them far far away.
The story i would preform is the seven stars of matariki and I would preform it with a huge group of people.
I am not one hundred percent sure on what it would look like.

The brass experimnt

In this experiment we were using a ball and ring that are made out of brass. The ring fitted through the ball.

We heated the ball first over a flame and tried to put it through the ring. The ball had expanded so it did not fit through the ring. We then cooled the ball in cold water.

Then we heated the ring - it expanded, so then the ball fitted through. We cooled the ring in cold water.

Then we heated the cold ball and the cold ring together. They expanded equally so the result was that the ball still fitted through the ring.

Leaf Experiment (chromatography).

Today we did an experiment that involves leaf's and we used a grinned mixture from the leaf that turned liquid. The aim was to take the pigments out of the leaf our first attempt worked very well because of the type of leaf.
Our class did this the day before so me and Josh I and Jnaya did this today we used a sample from Mr Guy and another from Sammy and Natasha. The sample we got from Mr Guy worked very well and it moved slowly up the paper, the one we got from Sammy and Natasha didn't work very well but it did move up a bit.
Before you can do this experiment you should pick as many leaves minimum 2-4 maximum 4-10 the grind the leaves till you get a liquid form of the leaves then put it in a smaller test tube. Once you have put it into a smaller test tube then you put it into a test tube rack and leave it out over night.

METHOD:
  1. Get the leaf mixture you made the day before and get another test tube rack and place it on a high table (so little ones can't reach).
  2. Then you get two boiling test tubes and place them into the test tube rack.

Water Filtering Experiment

Title: Water Filtering Experiment

Introduction:
I am doing this experiment to clean dirty from mud. The goal of the experiment is to find the best way to get the clean water using the gear provided.

Equipment:

  • Conical Flask
  • Funnel
  •  Paper Towels
  • Two Plastic Cups
  • A Cut Out Of The Bottom Of a Water Bottle
  • Tripod
  • Beaker
  • Water bottle with the bottom cut out

METHOD:

  1. Get all the materials
  2. set up equipment
     a) Cut the bottom of a large or small water bottle
     b) Get a bit of A thin or thick material and cover the bottom of the water bottle.
      c) tie it very tight with some rope and then push the middle of the material down a bit but not to much
       d) get the beaker and place under the bottle but before that put the bottle on a tripod then put the beaker underneath the tripod
       e) if you got clear water and it spills on the table you need to use the paper towels to clean it up.
    Conclusions/observations:
At first it didn't work very well but once we started changing the design we started making a lot of good progress. The things we changed was instead of the paper towels we used the material and we emptied the other paper towels that was with the cotton balls and then put it in the rubbish. I really liked the experiment because you had to think and the teach didn't have to tell you what to
do.  https://www.google.co.nz/search?biw=1366&bih=654&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=--2VWrK0JMOn8AWUtZywCA&q=water+filtering+systems+under+ground&oq=water+filtering+systems+under+ground&gs_l=psy-ab.3...10377.17199.0.19141.13.13.0.0.0.0.447.3764.2-7j3j2.12.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..1.1.445...0j0i30k1j0i24k1.0.AD2CajhalTA&safe=active&ssui=on#imgrc=vAY7wRKv46R3zM:

Our Practise of Snoopy's Chrisstmas

In guitar we have been learning Snoopy's christmas for Festival of the Arts the challenging part of learning this song on the guitar is switching to C,D and G the easy parts for me were probably the verses of the song I really do enjoy this song except it might be a bit to complex for beginners.Back to talking about my practise I couldn't really get much done because my computer kept on freezing and I had to keep restarting.
