English2019

  1. What am I learning?
In English we are learning about  Critical Literacy and telling what is fake and what is real and how to read hidden messages. We have also been learning about
Currant - Date of your source, is it new or old.
Reliability/ Relevance - Is this source fair? Does it give references.
Authority - Is the author informed? Where was the piece published.
Purpose/ Point of view - Is it a factor or opinion? Does the author have an agenda.

How does this show my learning?

This shows my learning by learning the skills of Critical Literacy. So then in the future or now in the present I can tell weather a news article is fake or real. I could also use this by knowing the hidden messages in a ad. This also shows my learning by knowing how to read hidden messages and telling when something is fake or real.

What am I wondering?

I am Wondering that in the future will companies start telling the truth about the product of what they are selling and trying to get to people.

Points for Critical Literacy Learning

  1. Every student has a different answer.
  2. You can tell it is fake by reading the hidden messages.
  3. Researching weather it is fake or not.
  4. You can cover any text.
  5. Considering how and why a text is made.

Introduction English 2019

In English our teacher Mr Aitken told us to do a self introduction about ourselves so then the whole class can get to know each other and so the teacher can get to know you. First of all he shared to the whole class a slide which had a lot of slides each slide had a check list. On the checklist it had a lot of things to check of such like your goals for this year, your favourite things, your name and age, where you want travel one day, what you want to be remembered at Hornby for etc. Here is what I have done.

Social Studies 2019

So far we have been learning about Human Rights. We have also been learning about a Pakistani boy. The most interesting thing is that over 1 million children are child slaves. This is a link to Human Rights by the children being slaves and their rights being broken. One child slave escaped and his name is Iqbal.

Passion Projects 1.1

Today in passion projects me and Joel were making things out of origami. The first thing that I made out of the origami paper was a ninja star (Shuriken) after that I attempted to make a parrot it didn't really turn out as I hoped it would then Mrs Buenaventura came and checked up on us she thought the parrot was a seahorse. Next I tried making a wolf it actually worked out really well then I put some detail on four of them. In total I made nine wolves two parrots a squirrel and two flowers. For the Maths Craft day we were thinking of making a zoo and a icosahedron.

Today we had our second day of Passion Projects well actually we started the projects on Monday 12th of November, the passion project I am doing is Maths Craft. It is where we do multiple things that is to do with maths like Menger sponge, Mobius Strip, Origami and String Art so on and so on they all have maths in the making of all of them. In the after noon  I tried doing one of the flexagons but unfortunately I messed it up by cutting all the pieces and I should have asked a teacher if we cut it all the way or not.

I have learnt to make the octohegon and the cube. I used twelve sonobe pieces to make the octohegon and six sonobe pieces to make the cube.

In English we are learning to think critically to identify and describe the key aspects of a visual text. Well first off we are doing critical thinking and film study about the movie Hunt for the wilder people some of the things we are doing is things about some of the characters such as Ricky Baker (main character), Uncle Hector, Aunt Bella, Paula Hall (Child Welfare).
