Making My Three Piece Puzzle

We didn't really do any research about the three piece puzzle but the teacher did show us what the Three piece puzzle looked like.

We each got a photocopy from the teacher and copied down onto the other two of the drawings of timber.

We all got three blocks of timber and drew the lines on to it.

The first thing we did was on a plan we drew lines in the shape of the timber then we made small center lines in the middle on the sides. Once we made the lines we had to measure out three shapes the first shape was a capital T a lowercase t and a minus -. Once I finished the measuring I shaded the shapes. The teacher demonstrated one of them with the drills he said to drill four holes in the minus shape and then use a chisel to smooth it out all I need to do now is to use the ban saw to cut out the two T's.

Transport in Plants

Aim:To observe xylem tissue and prove that they transport water up the plant.

Equipment: One stick of celery with the leaves still attached, a retort stand, boss head and clamp, a petri dish, water, food colouring, a knife or scalpel.

Method: 1. Make a cut across the base of the celery stalk to expose a new section of the stem.

2. Fill the petri dish with water and add a few drops of food colouring.

3. Place the celery stalk in the petri dish and gently clamp it in place using the retort stand, boss head and clamp.

4. Leave the stalk undistributed for 24 hours.

5. Remove the stalk and clamp from the petri dish. Cut the stem about 1/3 of the way up the stem.

Refraction

Aim: To investigate how light is affected by changing the substance it is travelling through.

Equipment: Ray Box, Power Source, Glass or Perspex Block, Single-Slit ray slide.

Method: Collect the equipment from your teacher, and set them up to produce a single beam of light.

1. Place the glass block in the shaded area below.
2. Place your ray box at the top of the page and shine the beam so it travels along the 10 degree line to the centre of the protractor (this is your angle of incidence,i).
3. Read the angle the light leaves the glass block at (this is your angle of refraction, r).
4. Continue the investigation so you can complete the table opposite.

Bouncing Light

Aim:To investigate how light behaves when in hits a plane (flat) mirror.

Method:
1.Collect a ray box, power supply and single slit ray slide from your teacher, and set them up to produce a single beam of light.

2. Place a plane mirror on the diagram of the protractor as
described below.

3 Vary the angle of incidence and record the angle of reflection in results table.

The results for the Angle of Reflection seems to be the same as the Angle of Incidence they were.

I really liked this experiment because we got to test light beams. here are the results for the experiment.

The reading I did today

Today I read all types of things the first thing I read was cats cafe the thing I liked about this story was that people in Taiwan were the first people to create a cat cafe. Then I got moved to level two because I didn't answer the questions right and I got moved down and then I read the desert it told me about special plants and animals that live in the desert.

Static Image Commentary

In English we have been learning about static Image. The static image must be about the book abomination my idea is when Martha's mother says this quote "ASK & YE SHALL RECEIVE" and for the drawing I am doing a cross and Martha holding the cross. Here is my commentary that I have done.

Static Image Commentary

My static image portrays the idea of Martha confronting  one of her mother’s
favourite sayings which is if you ask you shall receive but if you find out that later
in the book she asked for something but she did not receive what she asked for.
Martha never received what she asked for such as being able to listen to pop music or
having normal clothes,
lollies or bringing friends home.
The visual elements I have included an image of  hand holding a cross.
The hand represents Martha and the cross is showing that she asked for something
and she received god’s love to succeed in what she believes.
Throughout the book Martha never gave up on her beliefs and knew God
was always there for her.  Her faith in God was important to her.
The colours I have used is red to represent passion for what she believes is right.
Yellow represents the youth which god stores upon her and the happiness she gets
when she made a new friend called Scott. God answered her prayers. I also used blue
it shows her loyalty to Scott, her parents and her sister Mary. She was loyal to
Abomination too as she always took care of him. I also used the colour brown as it
shows her sense of responsibility as Martha wanted to do the right thing.
The quotation I have chosen is ‘Ask and you shall receive’ and the words are
relevant because to when you ask God for something  and if you are strong and
faithful, you will receive it. Martha asked for a friend and she received Scott who
helped change her life for the better.
